I really liked Starbrite Cleaners on Lake Austin Blvd - right next to Mangia Pizza. They did a fantastic job on my dress. And mine was really dirty on the bottom since my bustle had broken.
I had mine cleaned at comet cleaners on far west cause I was thinking I may sell it.My mind changed two months later and I had it preserved. I took it to Alexia Gavella and they sent it out to 'their guy'. I have total faith. The people that are doing mine actually did my moms 27ish years ago. They have to re-clean it because the comet places will end up yellowing them if you preserve it after that... so they're re-cleaning the cleaning stuff out, then preserving.
Second AG - they are great and will take your dress no matter where you bought it. Alternate: Westbank Cleaners. They have done many of my formal dresses and FI's pants/dress shirts and they always do great work.
I didn't buy my dress there, only got it altered. But I think they'll send out any dress for you. Just be prepared, it'll take 3 months or so...
ok this makes me feel LOADS better. the other day i took out a box of wedding stuff to give a friend and my dress bag was bundled up on top of it with my dress inside. not hanging. i kind of forgot to get is preserved and feel a lot better that i'm not the only one who hasn't done it. except i'm sure yours is actually hanging in a closet, not in a ball at the bottom of one... oops!
